England Steal A Near Improbable Win, 5 Talking Points Of The Match: After much drama and twists and turns, England notch up a famous win against New Zealand in the all important series decider on Saturday. For most part of the match, New Zealand was the side that looked like lifting the cup, but Bairstow of England was not the one to surrender meekly. He kept losing partners at the other end continually, but it never perturbed him. His calmness on the field was laudable and his fireworks with the bat were eye popping. Even when Bairstow was pummeling the boundaries, most people thought that he was going to end up on the losing side fighting a lone battle, but he not only fought as a lone wolf but also with his steely resolve helped his side steal a near impossible win, chasing down the revised target of 192 in 25 overs. One of the very few players in world cricket who can play top class cricket in all three forms of the game, Williamson very recently became the fastest New Zealander to reach 3000 ODI runs. He carried his good form from the last game and scored a well-paced, sensible half century from 65 balls. His 94 run partnership with Guptill who played excellently well for his 67 off 73 balls gave New Zealand a perfect platform to post a huge total, but unfortunately the New Zealand batsmen failed to capitalize and ended up posting a not so threatening total. 3) MJ Santner’s 3 quick wickets: MJ Santner. When wickets were tumbling at regular intervals, Jonny Bairstow was fighting a lone battle with no one to support him at the other end. But Billings complimented Bairstow and scored a brisk, quickfire 41 off just 30 deliveries. England didn’t do either of those and looked well set to get defeated by a convincing margin staggering at 45-5. But Jonny Bairstow was in mood to relent or meekly give up. He fought a lone battle like a soldier and in the end sealed a near improbable win. Bairstow came into the side as a replacement for Buttler, but proved his mettle as a fine batsman capable of competing with the best. “It has been fantastic to come back in, it was been wonderful and special.
