Every match gave moments of goosebumps, gave spine chilling moments and served cricket of the highest quality and entertainment of the highest order. Australia pocketed up the series but nonetheless England too gave a tough fight.

Here is CricTracker’s analysis England v Australia ODI series report card: England players ratings:

Jason Roy – 7/10:

Jason Roy had a good series with the bat, but he would be disappointed to see his side end up on the losing side despite all his efforts and endeavors. He struck two wonderful half centuries one in a winning cause and the other in a losing cause. Overall his efforts have been appreciable as per our analysis and that earns him a rating of 7 out of 10.

Alex Hales – 2/10:

Alex Hales had a disastrous series as a batsman as he failed to live upto the expectations and performed miserable as an opening batsman. He registered single digit scores on most occasions and couldn’t even reach the half century mark even once. These woeful performances earn him a rating of 2 out of 10.

James Taylor – 8.5/10:

James Taylor did most things right with the bat and performed exceedingly well surpassing all expectations. He registered scores of 40 plus in the first two games and struck a phenomenal century in the 3rd game. He for sure has announced himself on the big stage as someone to watch out for in the future. Overall he has secured a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Eoin Morgan – 7.5/10:

Eoin Morgan had a considerably successful series with the bat but he would be personally dejected as a captain to not have pocketed up the series despite being so close. He registered strike rates of over 100 in two occasions and struck two blistering half centuries. His performances earn him a rating of 7.5 out of 10.

Ben Stokes – 5.5/10:

Ben Stokes had a pretty poor series by his lofty standards. He showed flashes of brilliance here and there but never really was consistent enough to threaten the opposition. He registered two 40 plus scores and picked up 3 wickets in the 2nd ODI. But barring these performances there was nothing really laudable in his performances. He was also very expensive with the ball. Overall he garners a rating of 5.5 out of 10.

Jos Buttler – 1/10:

Jos Butlter had a rather terrible series. There were huge hopes pinned on him but he performed poorly in the two matches he played registering scores of 0 and 4. He missed the remainder of the series. Overall he garners a rating of 1 out of 10. Bairstow replaced him for the rest of the series.

Moeen Ali – 5/10:

Moeen Ali had an ill-starred series with the bat and a decent tour with the ball. He picked up 6 wickets in the series but performed miserably with the bat as he failed to go past the 20-run mark on all the occasions except once. His average performances have got him a rating of 5 out of 10.

Chris Woakes – 0/10:

Chris Woakes was an utter failure this series and had a rather forgetful tour with the ball. He failed to pick up any wickets in the three matches he played. And not only that he also leaked far too many runs and failed to keep the scoring rate under control. He gains no points in our rating.

Adil Rashid – 5.5/10:

Adil Rashid was good in the bowling department as he picked up 7 wickets in the series. Yes he was a bit expensive but his knack for taking wickets kind of indemnified for that. Overall his performances have got him a rating of 5.5 out of 10 as per our analysis.

Mark Wood – 0.5/10:

Mark Wood had a cataclysmic series as he performed very poorly with the ball. He performed woefully and was dropped for the subsequent 2 matches. He managed to pick up only one wicket in the entire series and was also highly expensive. His poor performances have got him only a rating of 0.5.

Steven Finn – 6.5/10:

Steven Finn performed decently in the limited opportunities that he got. He picked up 4 wickets in the series but was a little expensive. He had to fight it out with fellow pacer Liam Plunkett for a spot in the side. Overall he has got a score of 6.5 out of 10 as per our rating.

Liam Plunkett – 6.5/10:

Liam Plunkett was just an exact carbon copy of fellow pacer Steven Finn this series. He picked up 5 wickets in the 3 matches that he bowled, but was a bit too expensive as per his own standards. Overall his performances earn him a rating of 6.5 as per CricTracker’s analysis.

Jonathan Bairstow – 4/10:

Jonathan Baristow came in as a replacement for Jos Butler but he wasted the valuable opportunity he got with lack luster performances. He did his role as a wicket keeper really well but played rather poorly as a batsman. He garnered only less number of runs in the series but managed to score them at a healthy rate. He has got a rating of 4 out of 10 for the series.
