Pakistan sealed a historic win in the first match of the series against England at Lord’s as they defeated the hosts by 75 runs. Pakistan posted 339 runs in their first innings after electing to bat. Their captain Misbah-ul-Haq who set quite a few oldest player records with his ton. Chris Woakes shone with the ball for England. Yasir Shah later helped Pakistan to get handy lead of 67.
England were set a target of 283 after Woakes picked another 5-wicket haul in the game. Rahat Ali with the new ball and Yasir Shah later ensured Pakistan their first win at the Lord’s after 20 years. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.
0 – Number of sixes hit in this game. Last time a Test which had at least one completed innings didn’t witness a six was in 2012 also at Lord’s between England and West Indies. Last year’s Bangladesh and South Africa Test at Dhaka didn’t witness a six but the game was washed out for 4 days without even completion of an inning.
1 – Chris Woakes became the first England player to pick a 6-wicket haul in ODIs and Test cricket. He picked 6 wickets in an ODI in 2014 vs Sri Lanka. He took 6 wickets in the first innings of this game.

1 – Misbah-ul-Haq became the first Pakistan captain to score a century and duck in the same Test match.
1 – Yasir Shah became the first Asian spinner to take a 10-wicket match haul in his first game outside Asia. Sri Lanka’s Upul Chandana picked a 10-wicket haul in his 2nd game.
2 – Number of players who picked a 10-wicket haul in this game. This is the first instance since 2008 where two bowlers picked 10-wicket hauls in a Test. The last time it happened was in the Galle Test between India and Sri Lanka in 2008. This is the first such instance at Lord’s.
3 – Chris Woakes is only the 3rd player to score fifty runs and pick 10 wickets in a Test match at Lord’s. All the 3 are from England.

4 – This is Pakistan’s 4th win at Lord’s in Test cricket. Last was in 1996.
7 – Number of players who got out between 40 and 49 in this game. This is only the 5th instance where 7 or more players got out in 40s in a Test. Last time was in 2007 between England and West Indies and Manchester.
21 – Test matches Misbah-ul-Haq has won as a captain, the joint-second most among Asians alongside Sourav Ganguly. Only MS Dhoni (27) has won more matches among captains from the subcontinent.
10/141 – Yasir Shah’s match figures of 10/141 are the best for a Pakistani player and 2nd best for a visiting spinner at Lord’s in Test cricket. These are also the most wickets taken by an Asian at this venue.
11/102 – Chris Woakes’ figures of 11/102 are the 4th best for a pacer at Lord’s in Test cricket.

30 – Fifty plus scores for Alastair Cook in Test cricket as captain, the joint most for an England captain. Mike Atherton had 30 fifty plus scores as captain in this format.
30y 23d – Age at which Stuart Broad completed 350 wickets in Tests. He is the 3rd youngest bowler and the youngest pacer to complete 350 wickets in this format.
60 – Balls taken by Alastair Cook for his fifty in the first innings. This is his 2nd fastest fifty in Tests. He took just 56 balls for his fifty vs India at Mohali in 2008.
86 – Wickets taken by Yasir Shah in Test cricket so far. He has the most wickets by a player who has played 13 Tests. Australia Charlie Turner had 81 wickets after 13 Test matches.
127 – Test victories by Pakistan, the joint-most along with India among the Asian teams. India have also won 127 but taken 495 matches whereas Pakistan have 127 in 396 games.
351 – Wickets taken by Stuart Broad in Test cricket so far. He became the 3rd England bowler to pick 350 wickets in Tests.
1967 – Last time a right-arm spinner before Yasir Shah picked up 6 wickets in an innings at Lord’s was in 1967 by Ray Illingworth vs India.
2008 – Last time an England bowler picked up a 10-wicket match haul in losing cause in Tests was in 2008 by Ryan Sidebottom at Hamilton vs New Zealand. He recorded 10/139 in that game.
9638 – Runs scored by Alastair Cook in Test Cricket as an opener, the most by any player. Sunil Gavaskar scored 9607 runs as an opener in Tests.
