It was another day of struggle at the office for Pakistanis as Joe Root went on to play a huge knock of 254 as he helped England post a huge total of 589/8. Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow helped their side with fifties. Later Pakistan collapsed and finished the day with 57/4. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the day.
0.5 – Joe Root’s conversion ratio of 100s to 150s is the joint 9th best ratio for any player with a minimum of 10 Test centuries.
1 – First and only six in this Test series so far was hit by Chris Woakes of Mohammad Amir’s bowling. It came after over 430 overs in the series.
2 – This was the only 2nd instance of Pakistan conceding a total of 500+ in Test cricket outside Asia. The other instance was vs Australia (519/8 dec) at Hobart in 2010.

406 – Balls faced by Joe Root in the 1st innings of this game, the most he has faced in a Test innings. He faced 338 balls vs Australia at Lord’s in 2013.
589/8d – England’s 589/8 is now the 3rd highest total scored against Pakistan outside Asia in Tests.
254 – Joe Root’s 254 is now the 3rd highest score by an England No.3 in Tests. This is the first 250+ by an England batsman since Ton Graveney who scored 258 at Nottingham.
