The 16th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup is underway with yet another exciting and entertaining campaign taking place across ten venues in India. The previous campaign ended in a thrilling fashion in 2019 when England (ENG) defeated New Zealand by the barest of margins at Lord's.
Eoin Morgan and his men beat the BlackCaps on a boundary count after even the Super Over ended in a tie. The actual match also ended with a similar score which forced a Super Over that eventually turned out to be a heartbreak for Kane Williamson and his side.
Notably, both sides kick-started the ongoing 2023 edition on Thursday, October 05th at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where the Kiwis thrashed the English side by a nine-wicket margin. The England side is the current holder of the T20 and ODI World Cups and is considered as one of the hot favorites to lift the coveted trophy once again.
Though, Jos Buttler and his team faced Afghanistan (AFG) in their third game of the global event in Match No. 13 on a Super Sunday, October 15th at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi where they suffered a major setback as Hashmatullah Shahidi and his Afghan side sprung a massive surprise to defeat the 2019 champions by 69 runs. The Asian side stunned the reigning champions as they spun their web on a tricky surface in the capital city of India. With this, England has now lost two of their first three matches of the 2023 campaign.
