Team India was all over England on Day 1 of the first Test at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Joe Root’s decision of batting first didn’t prove to be fruitful by any means as Indian fast bowlers breathed fire with the red cherry. The four-man pace attack kept English batters on their heels as wickets fell at regular intervals. In fact, the visiting team was on command right from the outset.

Jasprit Bumrah dismissed opener Rory Burns for a duck in the very first over. Youngsters Dominic Sibley and Zak Crawley played some good shots and looked promising. However, the duo couldn’t do much either and the Three Lions were in all sorts of trouble. The England camp breathed a sigh of relief when skipper Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow joined forces. The duo added 62 runs for the fourth wicket as the momentum seemed shifting towards England.

However, Mohammed Shami dismissed Bairstow for 29, and the game turned on its head. England lost wickets in a cluster and got bundled out for mere 183 runs. While captain Joe Root (64) was the home team’s highest run-scorer, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers, scalping four vital wickets.

Meanwhile, the visitors made an impressive start with the bat as well. Openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul brilliantly tackled the new cherry and made sure India don’t lose any wicket at stumps. At the end of the day’s play, India were 21/0 and would be mighty pleased with their efforts. On the other hand, England has a job in hand to come back in the contest. Day 2 will indeed be very crucial and could even decide the fate of the contest.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how the weather will behave on Day 2 of the Nottingham Test

Rain and Test matches certainly go hand in hand. Now, who can forget the World Test Championship final between New Zealand and India? Fortunately, the weather didn’t play spoilsport on Day 1 of ongoing England vs India Test. However, things can be different on the second day with showers expected to come in the picture.

As per accuweather.com, the conditions will be cloudy throughout the day. Although the first session won’t be disturbed, the rain will be witnessed as the day progresses. With the humidity level being on the higher side, there will be showers in the afternoon and evening sessions. Hence, it would be interesting to see how the weather will affect the day’s play.
