England vs India, 2018: 2nd Test, Day 4 – Statistical Highlights
All the major stats and numbers from England’s huge win in the Lord’s Test.
England needed only 54.1 overs of play on the 4th day to complete an innings win over India at Lord’s to take a 2-0 lead in the 5-match Test series. The hosts declared their first innings on 396/7 with the dismissal of Sam Curran while Chris Woakes remained unbeaten on 137. India kept losing wickets regularly and were bowled out for just 130 in 47 overs in the second essay. James Anderson and Stuart Broad took four wickets apiece to complete an annihilation.

2 – Only the 2nd time India have lost their first wicket in both innings of a Test match on zero. They were 0/1 in both innings of the Chittagong Test match against Bangladesh in 2007 where Wasim Jaffer bagged a pair.
4 – Murali Vijay and Kuldeep Yadav bagging ducks in this Test is only the 4th instance of two Indians bagging a pair in a Test match. The last such instance was in the Port of Spain Test against West Indies in 2002.
6 – Murali Vijay became only the 6th Indian opener to bag a pair in Test cricket. The last Indian opener to bag a pair was Shikhar Dhawan in the Mohali Test against South Africa in 2015.
33* – Ravichandran Ashwin’s unbeaten 33 in the 2nd innings is the highest individual score for India in this Test match. This is the first such highest score for India in a Test match since the 1996 Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Durban where their highest individual score was 27*.
Only on three occasions India’s highest individual score in a Test was less than 33 where they were bowled out twice.
99 – James Anderson now has taken 99 wickets in the Test matches between England and India which are the most for any player. He surpassed BS Chandrasekhar’s tally of 95 wickets with the 4-wicket haul in the 2nd innings.
103 – Anderson became the first pace bowler and only the 2nd player to take 100 Test wickets at a venue. He has taken 103 wickets in the 23 Test matches he played at the Lord’s. Heath Streak at Harare and Stuart Broad also at Lord’s have 83 Test wickets apiece which is the 2nd most by a pacer at a venue in this format.
137* – Chris Woakes’ unbeaten 137 is the highest individual score batting at No.7 and lower in the England-India Test match. Polly Umrigar’s 130* in the Chennai Test match in 1952 was the previous highest.
2014 – The last instance of India losing a Test match by innings margin was also against England in 2014 at The Oval. This defeat is also the first innings defeat for India under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
