England vs India: 3 Players who can replace Shubman Gill in Test series
Shubman Gill is all but likely to get ruled out of the entire England due to a leg injury.
3. Abhimanyu Easwaran
The young opener from Bengal has been one of the most prolific run-scorers in India’s domestic circuit. His solid technique allows him to take the new ball with precision and his knack of staying at the crease for long makes him an even greater headache for bowlers. The Indian team management would be aware of Easwaran’s prowess and the same can earn the youngster a maiden Test cap.
Notably, Abhimanyu Easwaran has travelled to England as a reserve player. However, Gill’s ouster might make way for him in the squad and subsequently in the XI. So far, the 25-year-old has mustered 4401 runs in 64 First-Class matches at an impressive average of 43.57. He also has 13 centuries under his belt.
Although Easwaran is yet to feature in an international game, he has mustered runs in different parts while playing for India A. Hence, one might see the Bengal opener taking the field against the Three Lions alongside veteran Rohit Sharma.
