Team India has been gaining accolades from all over the globe for the steady performance they’ve put up in the third Test match against England at Trent Bridge. Contributions from the top and middle order of the batting, along with some top-notch bowling from the Indian seamers has ensured that they gain a significant upper hand in the proceedings of the game. Gautam Gambhir recently analyzed India’s performance in this Test match thus far.
Having won the toss, England put in the visitors to bat first and the Virat Kohli-led side was exceptional in the batting department as Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara recorded 81 and 72 runs in the first and second innings respectively the skipper scored 97 and 103 in his two innings. The Indian team eventually declared in their second innings with a hefty lead of 520 runs.
Gambhir appreciates the Indian batting and bowling
Speaking to the Times of India (TOI), stylish Indian southpaw Gambhir gushed over the Indian team’s efforts on the field and said, “Brilliant first session for India. I thought that the bowlers were brilliant.”
He went on to appreciate the three pacers for their precision and impeccable bowling and added, “Ishant Sharma was unbelievable in his first spell. If you can get a wicket in your first over, it always sets the game and the day for you. I thought his opening spell was very, very good. Plus, it was Bumrah who struck early as well and backed up by Mohammed Shami.”
Lauding the indomitable spirit that the Indian team have shown in the third Test as a recovery from being 2-0 down in the first two games, Gambhir concluded, “I think the first session was completely dominated by India and I’m sure that they’ll be looking to finish this game off today. 6 wickets away from a very, very important win, it just shows the character of the team as well. When you’re 2-0 down and the way you bounce back in this Test match, I think it was a complete performance by both batters and bowlers.”
