England vs India: Jasprit Bumrah most likely to miss first three Test matches
Bumrah also missed the limited-overs leg of the tour.
Team India have dealt with a severe blow only a few hours after losing the three-match series. Their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss three Test matches against England after being on the sidelines for the limited-overs leg of the tour. He had injured his finger while fielding off his own bowling against Ireland in the first T20I and since then has been out of the contention.
He was badly missed by the visitors in the One-Day Internationals especially as they struggled to contain the runs in the death overs. Apart from the wrist-spin of Kuldeep Yadav, nobody troubled England batsmen and they pounced on the inability of the new ball bowlers to pick wickets upfront.
Pant in line for Test call-up?
According to ESPN Cricinfo, BCCI is set to announce the squad for the three out of the five Tests on Wednesday. It is understood that the selectors have opted for the troika of spin attack comprising R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. The chinaman has earned the place with a brilliant show in the shorter formats. Though the most surprising element is going to be the selection of Rishabh Pant who will be the backup wicketkeeper on the tour for Dinesh Karthik.
Wridhhiman Saha continues to recover from the thumb injury he picked up in the IPL and will probably miss the whole Test series. Mohammed Shami is likely to be included in the pace attack comprising of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma.
There is also a possibility of Karun Nair making a cut after spending almost a month now in the country with India A side while playing the four-day Tests and One-Day tri-series.
