England thumped India by 8 wickets in the series decider at Headingley in Leeds. Joe Root and Eoin Morgan steered the home side to a victory with an unbeaten 188-run stand in the chase. The former pummelled the full toss to the boundary which was eventually the winning runs for England. But something unusual was seen while the teams were returning back to the dressing room after the end of the match. MS Dhoni was seen taking the match ball from the umpires which have put the doubts in the mind of the fans.

The veteran taking the ball from the umpires might be the indicator that he is retiring from the limited-overs formats as well. He had done the similar thing after playing in his last Test as well as he had taken the stumps with him despite the match ending in a draw.

Video trending on Twitter

The video of the same is going viral currently on social media and the way he fared in this series, the possibility of him hanging his boots can’t be entirely denied. He didn’t look at his best in this series and looked out of sorts with the bat and on the field at times.

MS Dhoni played a laboured knock of 37 runs at Lord’s and it came to a stage when the crowd started booing him. Also, in the series decider, he looked good for his 42-run knock but played way too many dot balls against the spinners which is often not the case. He is known to rotate the strike but he struggled to do the same in this series.

Though it is hard to accept, the end might have neared for one of the best players India has ever produced.
