Raina wastes his ODI chance
After being drafted into the ODI squad post the success in T20Is this year, one thought it would augur well for the visitors. But Suresh Raina could not grab his chance. he was presented with the opportunity in both the 2nd and 3rd ODI to come at a time and handle the ship, but the experienced player could not materialize. The moment for Raina came in the at Lord’s when he did all the hard work and got to 46. He had added 80 runs with Virat Kohli and once the skipper fell, Raina needed to apply himself.
But the southpaw tried to heave one across mid-wicket and was bowled by Adil Rashid. India was pegged back at 154/5 and never recovered to chase down a steep target. In the final game, England was smart enough to include a leg-slip and Raina offered a simple catch moments after he came to the crease. Rashid was the bowler once again.
