England vs India Rescheduled 5th Test: Weather near Edgbaston on July 1
The match is scheduled to begin at 3PM IST on July 1.
England will be hosting India in the rescheduled fifth Test of the Pataudi Trophy series that was started last year but could not finish due to the Covid-19 situation in the Indian camp. The game was initially scheduled to take place at Old Trafford last year. But the two teams are now set to take on each other at Edgbaston in Birmingham to finish off the series with the visitors having a lead of 2-1.
England have named a strong playing combination for the upcoming Test. The Ben Stokes-led team is in great form as they recently defeated New Zealand, the reigning World Test Champions, by 3-0 to make a stunning comeback in Test cricket. When India and England last met, the two teams were led by Virat Kohli and Joe Root respectively.
But the final Test of the series will see new captains in both the teams, in the form of Jasprit Bumrah and Stokes as India’s all-format captain Rohit Sharma has not yet recovered from Covid-19. Even the coaches of both sides have changed from last time as India is now under Rahul Dravid’s mentorship, and England is under Brendon McCullum’s guidance.
It is going to be a crucial match for both the teams. While India would want to either win the game or at least manage a draw to clinch the series, the English need a victory to level the series and not let India take the title home. It is going to be a contest to look out for as Indian players return to the whites, whereas English players look to continue their new found winning momentum.
Here’s a look at how the weather will behave during the ENG vs IND clash:
The English weather is temperamental and often has a big impact on how a game turns out. The recent Test match between England Women and South Africa Women in Taunton also witnessed rain playing a role. The bowling team has a huge advantage if the sky stays gloomy as the ball swings more under those conditions. Fans are simultaneously praying that it doesn’t rain because of the importance of the game. The forecast for the game, though, does not seem so good.
The opening two days of the match might be impacted by rain, according to projections by weather.com. The first day’s temperature (July 1) is predicted to be 19° C during the day and no less than 10° C at night. Given that it is anticipated to be sunny for the duration of the game, it is anticipated that the weather will improve from the third day onwards. On day three, the temperature may be somewhere between 10° C to 20 °C.
