Team India has fared well so far in the ongoing England tour. They have won the T20I series by 2-1 and the tussle in the One-Day Internationals has also gone into the decider now with the third match set to be played at Headingley. Meanwhile, the selection panel led by MSK Prasad is set to pick the Test squad for the five-match series ahead of the decider on Tuesday. They are expected to ponder over picking Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja in the side.

Rohit has been in the scintillating form in the limited-overs leg of the tour and has already scored two centuries in 5 matches so far. But the team management had ignored Ajinkya Rahane for him in South Africa for the same reason and everyone is aware of what transpired in that series.

For Jadeja, it is very much likely that he might lose his place in the side as he often struggles in overseas conditions. Moreover, Kuldeep Yadav might have done enough to be picked in Tests. With R Ashwin being the preferred spinner in the whites for the visitors, having three spinners in the seaming conditions will be a luxury.

Will Chahal be picked?

Virat Kohli, after the first ODI, had hinted that Yuzvendra Chahal can also make it into the Test side given the way he has been trumping the batsmen since last year. But it looks unlikely that the selectors will give him a chance in the upcoming series as it is still unknown if the leggie will be effective with the red ball.

Mohammed Shami, however, looks certain to return to the Test squad after being dropped last month for failing the yo-yo test ahead of the historic game against Afghanistan. There will also be a debate on including Karun Nair who was unlucky to be left out despite scoring a triple century against England at home.

The Test series will commence on August 1 with the first game set to be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
