England vs India: Tino Best urges Virat Kohli to get a big score
Kohli's stay in the middle is of paramount importance as India cannot afford to give away a huge lead.
West Indian speedster Tino Best certainly falls in the category of players who had a lot of ability to make it big but eventually failed to do something significant with his international career. Blessed with a fantastic physique and amazing fitness, his passion was pretty much visible when he ran in to bowl. A prominent moment of his career was in the final game when he was desperate to get Sachin Tendulkar‘s wicket.
Best once held the record for the highest score by a number 11 batsman in ODI cricket (95 vs England in 2012) before Ashton Agar registered 98 against the same opponents. The moment he realised his best individual score in England was way better than Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s, he was quick to share it with his followers on Twitter.
Best terms Kohli a “Legend”
It all started when Tino inquired about Kohli’s highest score against England. Former commentator and a broadcaster Dave Bracegirdle replied to his tweet saying that his best score against the Three Lions was 235 (in India) but his highest in England is just 39. The Indian skipper, as many remember, failed to register a decent score on his outing in England, which led to some severe criticism.
Best seemed perplexed with a fact that his best score in Test cricket (which came in England) was better than Kohli’s highest score in the same country. The fast bowler and Dinesh Ramdin registered a sensational 143-run stand at Birmingham in 2013 where Best scored 95 off 112 balls, helping his side post a massive 426 run total against the run of play.
He also termed Virat Kohli a legend in his tweet, urging the Indian to get a big one and send all his critics into hiding. Kohli went past the fifty mark in the first Test against England at Edgbaston, breaching his previous best score in the country. He clearly is lining up for a big score despite not getting great assistance from the other end.
His stay in the middle is of paramount importance as India cannot afford to give away a huge lead. Tino Best gave his best wishes to the Indian captain and urged him to get a huge score.
