After the Indian team lost the first Test in Birmingham a lot was is at stake for them as the attention moves to London. The second Test match is to be played at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, the only venue where they won a game on the last tour. Virat Kohli’s team will want to level the series 1-1 before they concede too big a lead. However, the start of the match, in fact, the toss itself has been delayed due to persistent rain.

The English summer was at its peak, the sun was beating down hard all this while but come the Test series and the clouds are out. It was overcast in Birmingham for the most part of the match and it has been raining in London since yesterday. The covers were up all the morning today and the toss was delayed and before the conditions could improve it started to drizzle.

Ahead of the game, both the teams were expected to make a few changes in the line-up. England had a forced change as Ben Stokes is busy with his court hearing and unavailable for the game while middle-order batsman Dawid Malan was dropped following a poor show at Edgbaston. They added Chris Woakes in the squad for Stokes and highest run-scorer in the County Championship Ollie Pope for Malan. India, on the other hand, will want to add another spinner to the XI.

The most suited option most people see is to bring in either Kuldeep Yadav or Ravindra Jadeja for the seam-bowling all-rounder. That will make the attack more rounded and with five bowlers it is an aggressive mindset to go in with. Having someone like Jadeja will further add depth to the attack. However, a leaked playing XI appeared and it suggests that Team India will field an unchanged team.

It has been raining all the day and the English people are happy getting respite from the heat, however, Indian fans are all disappointed. They were looking forward to an exciting contest and also waiting for their team to produce a favourable result.

Eventually, the day was called off at 10:30 PM IST. The only positive here is that the forecast is better for tomorrow, the next three days in fact.
