Stakes will be incredibly high when England and India lock horns in the third Test of the five-match series. The encounter gets underway on Wednesday (August 25) at the Headingly in Leeds. With Virat Kohli’s men being 1-0 up after the first two games, a win in this contest would earn them an unassailable 2-0 lead. Hence, the Three Lions will be battling for survival.

Team India certainly hasn’t done much wrong in this series and the scoreline narrates the entire story. While the first encounter at the Trent Bridge ended in a draw, Team India walked away with a stunning 151-run triumph in the second Test at the iconic Lord’s. It was indeed a remarkable win as momentum rode on a rollercoaster throughout the contest.

In fact, England firmly seemed on command at the end of Day 4 with India, in their second innings, leading by just 154 runs, having lost six wickets. However, Indian bowlers stole the show on the final day and took their side over the line. While the visiting team’s campaign would be ecstatic with the result, England would be gutted after facing humiliation at the Mecca of Cricket.

The Three Lions certainly have some work to do as many loopholes in their ship were exposed in the previous games. Except for skipper Joe Root, no English batter has made a significant impact. Also, the inability of pacers to take wickets with the new ball has also hurt the hosts. These issues need to be resolved if England aim to change their fortune.

On the other hand, openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma have done the bulk of the scoring for India. There have been significant contributions from the middle and lower order as well. However, it’s the four-man pace attack that has dented England the most. Hence, India have all the reasons to be confident ahead of the third game.

Here is a look at how the weather is expected to play on Day 1 of England vs India 3rd Test:

In what can be called a rarity, the rain didn’t play much part during the second Test at Lord’s. Hence, we saw a full-fledged an exciting game of cricket. Fortunately, the weather will be cricket-friendly during Day 1 of the Headingly Test as well. As per Accuweather.com, it will be partly sunny in Leeds with clouds dominating the sky. However, the chances of rain are as good as zero. Hence, fans must brace themselves to witness quality Test cricket
