England vs Pakistan: Jos Buttler uses MS Dhoni's tactic to run Sarfaraz Ahmed out
On 97, Sarfaraz tried to be cheeky and steal one run by poking the ball outside the off stump eying the third man region.
England on Sunday once again proved why they are the No.1 side in the world. Batting first, they scored yet another 350-plus score in the fifth and final ODI in Leeds. Even though the Three Lions had already won the series but their intensity was never lacking to ensure that the whitewash was accomplished. And the way England keeper Jos Buttler ran the Pakistan skipper Sarafaz Ahmed out, there was no doubt all the more.
Pakistan were off to a poor start, losing three wickets for six runs and it was left to the middle-order to scale the mountain. Babar Azam and Sarfaraz then held the innings together and added 146 runs for the fourth wicket. Azam fell for 80 and after a 37-run partnership between Sarfaraz and Shoaib Malik (4), the latter too fell. It was the skipper who stood between England and victory at that point.
Sarfaraz tried to be cheeky but was outsmarted by Buttler
Just four runs later at 193, Sarfaraz was batting against spinner Moeen Ali. On 97, he tried to be cheeky and steal one run by poking the ball outside the off stump eying the third man region. But the ball did not get past keeper Buttler as it hit his right pad from where it got deflected into his left pad and then hit the ground.
Sarfaraz, meanwhile, was out of crease because of the momentum gained and could not beat Buttler who did a smart job by picking the ball up in a flash to rattle the stumps. The Pakistan captain, who had taken a couple of strides in front, could not return on time and fell just three short of what would have been a well-deserved century. Pakistan though did well to add another 104 runs for the remaining four wickets but victory was never on their side.
Here is the video of Buttler pulling off an MS Dhoni:
Buttler played a key role during England’s bowling by taking part in four dismissals as England won by 54 runs to make it 4-0 in the five-match series. England dominated the series by scoring 350 runs on an average in every game and though Pakistan also batted well throughout the series, they were left wanting bowling and fielding.
