Ever since Smriti Mandhana has made her debut, she has been one of the most important assets of the women’s team. Her flying starts have often put the team in dominating positions against any opposition. There is a certain ease in her batting that makes everybody sit and take notice of her.
The belligerent display with the bat and clean smashing of the ball has often brought her under the limelight. Considered as one of the most stylish batters in women’s cricket, Mandhana has built a certain aura around her which makes her stand out. Women’s cricket has traveled a long way over the last few years and with the likes of players like Smriti it only aims to climb the further ladders of success.
Smriti Mandhana impresses everyone by grabbing a fabulous catch
Along with her stylish batting, Smriti is also one of the safest hands when it comes to the world of fielding. In the ongoing match between India and England, Smriti has yet again turned many heads by taking a stunning catch at deep mid-wicket. She ran a few yards to her left and dived exceptionally well to complete the catch. Owing to her effort the vice-captain of the England side Nat Sciver had to make her way back to the pavilion by falling one run short of her half-century.
Looking to get to her 50 in style, Sciver aimed to hit it big but Mandhana’s unbelievable attempt meant that the batter had to depart. Throughout this game, Smriti has been seen fielding quite impressively, saving important runs for the team. After her splendid catch, Twitter went crazy praising the left-handed batter. This intent from the entire team in the final ODI against the hosts would probably help them to avoid a whitewash in the three match ODI series.
The hosts have so far dominated the proceedings by winning both the ODIs against India. The Indian women have struggled with the bat, failing to build up partnerships in the middle order. Skipper Mithali Raj has looked good with the willow, holding the fort for the team previously, while the resilient display with the bat from Sneh Rana and Taniya Bhatia had helped India to pull an outstanding draw in the one-off Test match.
