England's Dan Lawrence exits the bio-secure bubble due to family bereavement

23-year-old Dan Lawrence, who is yet to make his Test debut, had to leave the team’s reserve squad due to a family bereavement. The team has not given a thought to call up any replacement. The young player from Essex has 3804 runs and nine wickets to his credit in 70 First-class matches.

Ben Stokes, who has recently achieved the feat of being the no 1 Test all-rounder after his exemplary innings against West Indies, is also out the three-match series due to family commitments. However, the board has stated to not call up for any replacements as of now.

Respect Dan Lawrence’s privacy: ECB

As Dan Lawrence won’t be able for selection during the 2nd Test Match against Pakistan because he had to leave in a haste due to family bereavement. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has requested media personnel to respect his privacy and sentiments at given point of time. He was part of the reserved squad and there are still speculations over when he will be able to join next or might remain totally out of the Test series.

Part of the Sussex team for upcoming Bob Willis Trophy, pacer Ollie Robinson was called to be a part of England’s closed-door training camp. In the Pakistan tour of England, hosts England are leading the series by 1-0 after registering the victory by 3 wickets in the opening Test.

The heroics of Jos Buttler along with Chris Woakes during 4th innings guided England towards victory. Shan Masood and Babar Azam were the only bright spot in Pakistan’s batting line up during the first innings, but couldn’t deliver anything significant in the 3rd innings.

The second Test is all set to take place at Ageas Bowl, Southampton on Thursday. The T20 series is set to commence between England and Pakistan on 28th of this month. Earlier this month, England has also lifted the series against Ireland by 2-1 where Ireland stole the last match in final over thriller.

The last month also saw the resumption of international cricket after COVID-19 hiatus where England took against West Indies and won the series by 2-1. Going by their records so far, let’s see if they maintain their winning streak in times to come.
