English pacer James Anderson names his favourite opponent
Anderson is currently the leading wicket taker of England's ongoing series against India.
James Anderson has arguably been one of England’s greatest bowlers to have played the sport. He is currently England’s leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 561 wickets in 143 matches. Moreover, he is two wickets of short of legendary Australian pacer’s tally of 563 wickets. Furthermore, he will also become the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket among fast bowlers.
In England’s ongoing series against India, the Lancashire born 36-year-old speedster is currently the leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets from nine innings. In the second match at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground- The Home of Cricket, he ripped apart the Indian batting. Subsequently, the visiting team lost the match by a mammoth margin of an innings and 159 runs.
Anderson reveals the name of an Indian batsman
However, the fast bowler hasn’t been able to get the better of Virat Kohli thus far in the five-match series. Albeit the Indian captain hasn’t got out to the bowler, Anderson hasn’t allowed him to score runs freely either. Lately, the experienced campaigner mentioned that the 29-year-old Virat is his favourite opponent while bowling and mentioned the same in a rapid-fire round interview on Sony Six.
Kohli is presently the highest run scorer of the series with 593 runs from nine innings at an average of 65.88. Moreover, he has notched a couple of centuries to go with three half-centuries. The Indian batting has looked out of sorts thus far, but Virat has looked a class apart and has been a thorn in the flesh of the powerful English bowling lineup.
The fifth and final Test at Kennington Oval is underway and Virat’s men would be hoping to put their best foot forward and end their campaign on an impressive note. Virat looked good in the first innings with a knock of 49 but was dismissed by Ben Stokes. On the other hand, the Three Lions would dearly wish to thump India and bag the series 4-1.
