Eoin Morgan all set to play for Barbados Tridents in CPL 2017
Tridents' coach Robin Singh said Morgan is a proven match-winner.
With the business end of the tournament setting in, the Caribbean Premier League‘s (CPL) entertainment quotient is set to follow only one path, and that is northward. Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have already registered their name in the playoff and St Lucia Stars are already out of the tournament. That means that the remaining three franchises- Barbados Tridents, Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors are in the hunt for the remaining two places. Tridents have further strengthened their squad by signing English skipper Eoin Morgan.
Morgan has been roped in by the team captained by Kieron Pollard. The 30-year-old is quite a well-travelled player and has the necessary experience that will help the Tridents make the cut into the playoffs. He has played for as many as four teams in the IPL. In 67 T20I innings, Morgan has scored 1574 runs with a healthy strike rate of over 130.
“I love coming to Barbados to play cricket. It is such an iconic place where all the greats have played and to get the opportunity to play in such a big tournament is really an honour. I have always wanted to come to CPL, I can’t wait to get there,” said the enigmatic middle-order batsman after signing for the Tridents.
Eoin is one of the best white-ball batsmen in the world
Head coach of Barbados Tridents, Robin Singh said that Morgan is a proven match-winner and is one of the best white-ball batsmen in the world. “If we are to claim our second CPL title we need proven match-winners. We have that in Eoin, who is not only one of the best white-ball batsmen in the world but also a fantastic presence – both on and off the field,” said the former Indian international.
Barbados has four matches remaining before the playoff stages set in.
