England ODI and T20I captain Eoin Morgan and his wife Tara have become parents to a baby boy, the latter confirmed on Wednesday. The Morgans have become the parents for the first time. At a time when everything is looking gloomy due to the coronavirus pandemic, Morgan and his wife certainly have a big reason to smile.

The England star had tied the knot with Tara in November 2018 and lady luck has been very kind to the left-handed batsman since then. Just months after the wedding, Morgan led England to their first-ever World Cup title. The Ireland-born cricketer led from the very front to end England’s decades-long wait for their first World Cup triumph.

And almost nine months after that historic triumph at the Lord’s, he and his wife have been blessed with a beautiful son. Tara took to Instagram to post an adorable picture of the newborn baby. She delivered the baby on March 9 as she confirmed it in her post. She also revealed the name of the boy, writing: “Leo Louis Oliver Morgan: 9th March, 2020.”

As far as the love story of Eoin Morgan and Tara is concerned, the pair first met in 2010 when the cricketer was helping England take on Australia in the Ashes. Tara comes from Adelaide but is now based in London. The Australia-born diva works in PR for fashion house Burberry.

Coronavirus threat to cricket

While Eoin Morgan and his wife must be having a great time right now as they celebrate the birth of their first child, the pandemic is taking a toll on cricket. Well, the forced break will give England’s limited-overs skipper, the opportunity to spend some quality time with his family but it would not be totally wrong to assume that he would be desperate for the resumption of cricket.

Every major series or tournament has been called off in the wake of the pandemic. The outbreak is threatening to spoil the English summer. England have already called-off their Test series in Sri Lanka and now face the prospect of calling off their home summer. Earlier this week, the ECB recommended all forms of recreational cricket to be suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak.
