We witnessed another top-class performance from the hosts England to round off the series and home season in convincing fashion on Friday. This has been their longest season ever, and one would have to say, they had too much firepower and managed to upstage every opposition they faced. England team skipper, Eoin Morgan was overjoyed after the series win over Windies and expressed his thoughts in post-match presentation.

At the end of five One-Day Internationals between the two sides, the scoreline was 4-0, with one match resulting in a washout. For England, the scriptwriters in the final ODI were Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, and Joe Root, who didn’t put a foot wrong and managed to achieve the target with 12 overs to spare.

Jonny Bairstow registered his career-best performance smashing 141 runs off 114 balls which was laced with 17 boundaries. His partner-in-crime was Jason Roy who made sparkling 96 runs off just 70 balls. As the partnership was getting closer to the target, Roy tried to finish things off early which eventually cost him his wicket, and was also the only victim on the night.

Despite falling short of his personal milestone by four runs, Roy ensured his team a famous win. Soon after the opener departed, Root and Bairstow made sure the rhythm was not upset as they close out the chase.

Eoin Morgan expressed his views

Seeing his boys performing extensively well, Morgan believes that England is definitely in the contention for 2019 World Cup. Talking about the match, the skipper praised Bairstow, Roy, and Root who helped them to cross the line. He specifically mentioned that Roy and Bairstow were able to utilise their opportunities, which gives team management a sigh of relief.

At last, Morgan mentioned that the team will look to rest few players and try new faces for upcoming T20I series, followed by a Tri-series. It will be interesting to see England’s first choice going into 2019 World Cup, especially for the opening slot. With all playing well, one will have to sit out to make way for the other three.
