Eoin Morgan, Toby Ronald-Jones extend their contract with Middlesex

English county side Middlesex have extended their contract with Eoin Morgan. The limited-overs skipper of the national team has been a part of Middlesex since 2005. They also managed to extend fast bowler Toby Roland-Jones’ contract.

Ollie Rayner and Stephen Eskinazi have been other additions to the county club. The 2016 County Champions will start the 2018 season in Division Two after being relegated. Both Morgan and Roland-Jones expressed happiness over signing contracts with the club.

Eoin Morgan has been a part of the Middlesex setup for the last 12 years. Having amassed 7500 runs across all formats representing them, Morgan was looking forward to playing for Middlesex. He also spoke about the current blend of talent in the team.

“I am pleased to have extended my contract with the club that I’ve represented since I was a youngster. We’ve got an exceptionally talented squad here at Middlesex, with a terrific blend of youth and experience, and I’m really excited about what we can achieve as a playing group going forwards.” Morgan told according to the Guardian.

Delighted with an extension

While Roland-Jones may be missing the Ashes due to an injury, he was glad to have his contract extended. Having made his international debut this year, the pacer described it as an amazing year for him.

The 29-year-old said: “It’s been an amazing year for me personally, making both my ODI and Test debuts with England, and I’m delighted to finish the year by signing an extension to my contract with Middlesex.”

He further admitted that while the previous season was tough for Middlesex, they were looking forward to putting their best foot forward ahead of the upcoming season.

“Obviously on-field performances last season were a huge disappointment for all of us in the Middlesex dressing room and I’m excited to be part of a playing group that are wholly committed to coming back stronger in 2018, competing on all fronts and challenging for honours.”
