After scoring a mighty total of 189 in their allotted 20 overs, strangely, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost the match to the impressive Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). By the look of the naked eye, the pitch at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi was not a belter of the track as the scores suggest. As described by the CSK opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad, the wicket was holding up a bit initially but eased out as the game progressed.

Gaikwad certainly pounced on the opportunity and scored his maiden hundred. He paced his innings well and accelerated towards the end by playing proper cricketing shots. Naturally, the CSK opener hogged the limelight. He was though not alone as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja too joined the party and exploded in a typical manner scoring a 15 ball 32. The knock contained four fours and one six and his strike rate was 213.33.

Jadeja the finisher arrived when the yellow army was having a party with Gaikwad smacking on the crease. Jadeja led CSK to finish the innings off well. His late blitz against RR took CSK to a competitive and gave bowlers something to bowl at.

Impressed by his power-hitting cricketer-turned-expert, Ashish Nehra said even legendary South African cricketer AB de Villiers would have said wow by seeing the innings of Jadeja. “We call AB de Villiers as a 360-degree player but seeing Jadeja’s shots today he would be seeing it 630 degrees,” Nehra told to Cricbuzz.

Ravindra Jadeja’s late blitz propels CSK to a mammoth total against RR

CSK were placed 134 for four and still had 22 balls left to their innings. The team would have ideally settled for a score somewhere around 170. But Jadeja had other plans as he took on Mustafizur Rahman to cleaners in the 20th over dispatching him for 15 runs in the four balls that he faced. Although CSK lost the match, Jadeja’s form towards the business end of the tournament augurs well for the franchise in Yellow.

Meanwhile, RR have kept their qualification hopes alive by beating CSK by seven wickets. They are currently placed sixth on the points table, with two matches yet to be played.
