Former India batter Aakash Chopra reckons that pressure is mounting on batting megastar Virat Kohli after each successive failure with the bat. Kohli’s dismal run continued in the second T20I against England at Edgbaston where he managed only one run from three deliveries before being dismissed by debutant Richard Gleeson.

Kohli attempted to take Gleeson into the stands on the very first delivery of the seventh over, but completely miscued it and Dawid Malan took a brilliant catch running backward. Thus, it was the 76th innings across formats that the batting icon failed to register a century marking what is arguably the lowest point in his international career.

Virat Kohli should play cricket everywhere: Aakash Chopra

“Virat Kohli got out but there is no discussion even if he doesn’t score runs, that’s what is happening at this point in time. He was trying to play a big shot and every day the pressure is mounting”, said Aakash Chopra while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“That is why I felt that he should go to West Indies as well, he should play cricket everywhere, once the guy starts scoring runs, he will not stop, we all know that but he should play, is what I am feeling”, he added.

Kohli was selected in India’s playing XI in place of an in-form Deepak Hooda who has been in amazing form since the Ireland T20Is. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Virat Kohli along with other key players including skipper Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, etc. are set to be rested for the upcoming limited-overs series against the West Indies starting July 22 as a part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s workload management policy.

It would now be interesting to see whether Kohli decides not to take a break and play in the West Indies series which comprises three One Day Internationals and five T20Is.
