Welsh Fire beat Southern Brave in the 8th Match of The Hundred
The Welsh Fire side got the better of the Southern Brave outfit in the 8th Match of The Hundred. Jonny Bairstow was in his elements and plundered the Southern Brave bowlers to all corners of the ground. He scored a magnificent 72 off just 39 deliveries, and his innings was filled with 5 fours and as many sixes.
Apart from Bairstow, Ben Duckett and Tom Banton also contributed vital runs as well. While Duckett scored 53 off 34 deliveries, Banton blazed his way to a 23-ball 34 as the Welsh Fire side posted a total of 165/4 in their 100 balls. Danny Briggs was the pick of the bowlers for the Southern Brave outfit. He scalped 2 wickets in the 15 balls that he bowled.
In reply, even though James Vince scored a handsome 40 at a strike rate of close to 150 for the Southern Brave outfit, he did not receive enough support from his teammates. And in the end, the Southern Brave side could only muster a total of 147/7 in their allotted 100 balls. Apart from Neesham, who scalped 3 wickets, David Payne took 2 wickets as well, giving away 30 runs in the 20 deliveries that he bowled.
Jonny Bairstow won the Player of the Match award for his sensational display with the willow.
