The shower of praises doesn’t seem to stop for MS Dhoni. The latest entrant in the list of people who congratulated him for his Padma Bhushan is Virender Sehwag. MS Dhoni was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan on Monday, which is the same day when India lifted the World Cup, i.e., April 2. MS became the second cricketer after the legendary Kapil Dev to be bestowed with the honour.
Dhoni, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army dressed in the uniform for the awards ceremony. As his name was called, Mahi marched towards the President to receive the award as his proud wife Sakshi watched on. MS Dhoni’s love towards the Indian Army is unmatched and this incident just proves why. He is also often seen sporting the ‘camouflage’ colour in his cricketing gear.
Congratulations Lt. Colonel MS Dhoni of 106 Para TA Batallion
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag looked highly impressed with MS Dhoni’s presence of mind. He was awestruck seeing MS Dhoni in the army uniform just like many others. Many cricketers also congratulated MSD for the achievement. He took it to Twitter to congratulate his former teammate and wished him well in the ‘Viru’ way.
Sehwag also wrote that everything was done beautifully by MS Dhoni. ‘The march past, the salute, the holding of the certificate, everything is done so beautifully. Congratulations Lt. Colonel MS Dhoni of 106 Para TA Batallion on the #PadmaBhushan !’, Virender Sehwag tweeted.
Furthermore, it is quite interesting to note the amount of detail that Viru included in his tweet. He included the Batallion where MS is currently posted and also highlighted all the actions performed by Mahi. Sehwag also shared the video of MS Dhoni receiving the award from President Shri Ramnath Kovind.
Both Sehwag and MS played a lot of cricket together. Sehwag was also the vice-captain of the team when MS was the skipper. Currently, Sehwag is working as the Head Coach of the Kings XI Punjab. MS, on the other hand, is a regular member of the Indian limited-overs squads. Furthermore, he will be leading CSK in the IPL this year.
