In the last four months or so, there has been a number of talks regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 2020 edition of the T20 tournament was scheduled to get underway on March 29 with the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. However, the massive coronavirus outbreak ended up playing spoilsport.
The event had to be postponed for an indefinite time period due to the lockdowns imposed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, after a lot of speculations, it has been learned that the IPL will be starting on Saturday, September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The cash-rich league will be a 51-day affair and the final will be played on Sunday, November 8.
The players will be leaving base by August 20 and security protocols will be in place. In the meantime, Kidambi Srikanth, the talented Indian badminton player, also sounded excited for the IPL to start. The 27-year-old is looking forward to watching the legendary MS Dhoni make his comeback.
The shuttler took to Twitter and wrote, “Great to know #IPL2020 is happening. I’m excited and looking forward to see @msdhoni play again!”,

MS Dhoni’s return to cricket
Dhoni last played cricket in the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales. In the semi-final against New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester, he got run out after scoring 50. Martin Guptill threw the stumps down at the striker’s end to send him packing. The dismissal also pulled the curtains down on India’s journey in the multi-nation mega event.
From there on, reports of MS Dhoni’s retirement has been doing the rounds on various platforms. He hasn’t played any cricket, but his fandom hasn’t diminished by any stretch of the imagination. Recently, he celebrated his 39th birthday and was showered with praises from every nook and corner.
Dhoni was set to make a comeback in the 2020 IPL earlier in March. Though the tournament was deferred, it’s expected that he would be taking the field when the tournament starts a couple of months later. Like Srikanth, a number of fans would be waiting to see Dhoni back on the field.
