Expect some magic from MS Dhoni: Ravi Shastri warns Australia
MS Dhoni has been in prolific form since the West Indies tour.
The head coach of Indian team, Ravi Shastri, can sense that something special from MS Dhoni’s bat is just around the corner. This has to come as a statutory warning for Australia who is gearing up for the limited-overs series against India. The first of the 5-match ODI series will be played in Chennai on Sunday, 17 September.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni looked in great touch with the bat in the Sri Lanka series as he wasn’t dismissed even once in the 4 innings. He played a couple of match-saving knocks in the second and third match as India was tottering at 132/7 and 61/4 respectively. He remained unbeaten in both the matches and made sure there were no further hiccups in the chase. Interestingly, just before the series the chief selector MSK Prasad had insisted that the wicketkeeper-batsman has to perform to stay in the team.
Head coach Ravi Shastri was ecstatic about Dhoni’s performance in the recently concluded series. He also felt that something big is on the way from the most successful captain of India. “There will be some surprise in store from MS Dhoni with the bat. I have a feeling something is round the corner. Sri Lanka was just a trailer,” Shastri told India Today.
The former Indian cricketer has always praised Dhoni for his contribution to Indian cricket. He has also hailed for his presence in the dressing room and believes that the veteran has it in him to go all the way until 2019 Cricket World Cup in England.
What’s next in store for Dhoni?
The former skipper has retired from the longest format of the cricket and plays only the limited-overs format of the game. However, he has a busy schedule coming up as India is gearing up for a hectic home season in which they will 3 Tests, 11 ODIs and 9 T20Is. Dhoni will be part of as many as 20 limited overs game until December which is a good news for his fans. Also, the excitement is only increased after Shastri’s comments.
