Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are currently playing against each other at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. While the visitors are looking to open their winning account on the day, the home side would love to continue in the same vein. Sunrisers have won the toss and opted to bowl first as they were dealt with an injury to Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the eleventh hour. However, Williamson explained the reason for his absence in the game at the toss while Sandeep Sharma made his debut for SRH.
Bhuvi’s absence might hurt SRH on the day as he is one of the best bowlers of the team and owns the death bowling nowadays. He also bowled well against Rajasthan Royals a few days ago conceding only 30 runs and picked a wicket. It remains to be seen if Sandeep Sharma can fill in his big shoes on the day and perform to his potential.
What is the reason?
Kane Williamson informed at the toss that Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not playing due to a sore back which was a blow to their ambitions in the game. “Unfortunately Bhuvi misses out, he has a sore back, so Sandeep Sharma comes in making his debut for the franchise, so that’s exciting for him,” he said. He opted to field first after winning the last match doing the same and believed that the momentum is crucial for them.
“I suppose momentum is a reflection. We need to keep improving as a team. We started well but beating a side of Mumbai’s calibre isn’t going to be easy. No number in mind about what to chase. Last time it was a good surface but we were really good with the ball, so we just want to keep improving as a team; to go out there and perform,” Williamson added.
