But young pace bowler, Kane Richardson has made most out of the opportunities that he has got to be in the news. Rated as a T20 specialist, Richardson has already represented his national side and has proven to be a promising asset for the team. 1. Born on:

Kane William Richardson was born on 12 February 1991 at Eudunda in South Australia.

2. Nickname:

He is popularly known as Richo among his teammates.

3. Early days in cricket and the U19 World Cup:

Kane Richardson started playing domestic cricket for South Australia. Richardson was picked up in the Australia U19 side for the 2010 ICC U19 World Cup. He was in the side with other promising players like Mitchell Marsh, Josh Hazlewood and Nic Maddinson. He played just 3 matches in the season and picked up 6 wickets. He was good with the bat too and had a top score of 44.

4. Signed by the Strikers:

Owing to his good show in the U19 World Cup, the Adelaide Strikers signed him for the Big Bash League 2010-11 season. He has been a consistent performer for the Strikers since then.

5. Impressive first-class debut:

Playing for the South Australia, Richardson made his First Class debut against Queensland in 2011. He rocked the Queensland top order by removing the top three batsmen with just 11 runs on the board. He finished the innings with figures of 4/79. He picked up another wicket in the second innings. With the bat, he made a handy 25 in the first innings and 10 in the second.

6. An Awkward ODI debut:

Richardson came in the Australian national side in 2013 as a replacement for an injured Mitchell Starc. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at Adelaide. He was dismissed for a golden duck by Lasith Malinga, but his bowling was highly impressive. He bowled 3 maiden overs in his 6-over spell that gave away just 15 runs. He was then removed by umpire Marais Erasmus for repeatedly running on the pitch in his follow-through.

7. Five-for against India:

Playing against India in the fourth ODI at Manuka Oval, Canberra, Richardson got his maiden five-wicket haul. In a series that was highly dominated by the batsmen, Richardson’s 5/68 earned him the Man of the Match. His spell turned the game upside down as India failed to chase the target despite being in control for the most part of the game.

8. IPL contracts:

Kane Richardson’s limited-overs performances were impressive enough for him to become one of the big buys of IPL 2013 when Pune Warriors bought him for US$700,000. However, his vital contributions came in the next season when he played for the Rajasthan Royals. Having played 10 IPL games so far, he has 11 wickets to his name.

9. Major teams:

Kane Richardson has the distinction of representing various teams in his short career so far. Some of the prominent sides that he has represented are- Australia, Adelaide Strikers, Australia A, Australia Under-19s, East Torrens, Northern Territory, Northern Territory Under-19s, PINT Cricket Club, Pune Warriors, Rajasthan Royals, South Australia, South Australia Under-19s, South Australia Under-23s, Waratahs (Dalby), Woodville.

10. Personal life:

His elder brother is also a cricketer, Callan Richardson, and has represented the Northern Territory U19s.
