One of the batting mainstays of the South African lineup, Faf du Plessis and his wife Imari du Plessis are basking in joy on the birth of their second girl child. On Thursday, the couple welcomed their newborn and named him as Zoey du Plessis.
The cricketer had tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Imari in 2013 at Kleine Zalze and they were blessed with their first child, Amelia du Plessis in 2017. The Proteas cricketer had given the training camp organised by Cricket South Africa (CSA) this week a miss to be with his wife during the birth of their child.
Sharing this delightful news with his fans via his Instagram handle, the South Africa skipper posted a picture with his wife and captioned it as, “The Miracle of a new life coming into this world makes me stop and just be in awe of creation and how perfectly and wonderfully we are created. Welcome Zoey to this wonderful world. We will love you unconditionally and I will protect with everything I have . Love you.”
Faf du Plessis will brace the field in IPL 2020
The South African cricket team was expected to play against India, Sri Lanka and West Indies this year. However, all the series were suspended for an indefinite time in the view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Faf du Plessis will be seen playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni for the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2020 edition of the IPL.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to go ahead with the much-awaited 13th edition of the cash-rich league from September 19 to November 10 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Du Plessis will be joining the CSK’s camp in Dubai after September 1 with the Proteas teammate Lungi Ngidi while the team will take off for Dubai from India on August 21.
In his IPL career of 8 years, the 36-year-old has played 71 matches while scoring 1,853 runs at an average of 31.4 and strike rate of 126.7. Faf has so far scored 22 international centuries, including 9 in Tests, 12 in ODIs and 1 in T20I. He has scored 3901 Tests, 5507 runs in ODIs and 1407 runs in T20 Internationals.
