23-year-old Pakistan’s bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf is on a roll. After his heroics against Sri Lanka in the T20I series, where he bagged a hat-trick, Faheem has been seen representing Faisalabad in the National T20 Cup. Many of the Pakistan cricketers are taking part in the domestic competition. Faheem has played 3 ODIs and 4 T20Is in the international circuit.
He took the wickets of Isuru Udana, Mahela Udawatte and Dasun Shanaka off the last three balls of the penultimate over of the Sri Lankan innings, in the 2nd T20I match. He has already scalped 8 international wickets since making his debut this year.
Regarding the domestic tournament, the youngster told PakPassion.net that it’s a huge tournament and a platform where they can catch the attention of the selectors. “It’s a high-profile tournament and it’s a tournament that is very important to the players for national selection and also due to the fact that there are more Pakistan Super League places up for grabs,” said Ashraf
Lack of support from fans
He expressed his disappointment at the lack of support from the crowd for the games. He urged the cricket lovers to come in large numbers and show their support. The cricketer said that players want to play in front of the crowd and they should show their support in international matches as well as domestic ones. “It’s very sad that the [strength of] crowd is so poor. The earlier matches each day see hardly any fans and then the later matches see small crowds.”
“Players want to play in front of decent crowds and I would urge the fans to attend the matches and back the players and all the teams taking part in this tournament. They need to do this to show the world that Pakistan supports all types of cricket, international and domestic,” he added.
