Overnight Pakistan Cricket sensation Fakhar Zaman, after being at the receiving end of surplus amounts of accolades from government and industrialists, has now received appreciation from Pakistan Naval chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah. Zaman was previously associated as a part of Navy in 2008 as a professional sportsman.
The story of Fakhar Zaman is a story full of inspirations. He was forced into joining the Navy as a sailor to support his family as a breadwinner. But, his calling was always cricket, so the Navy added a special clause to the contract which would have allowed him to come back to his job had he never made it to higher levels. Read more here.
Therefore, Pakistan Naval chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah paid tribute to fellow ex-serviceman Zaman during a reception held by Pakistan Navy in honour of Pakistan cricket team. Chief of the Naval Staff also awarded medals to the members of the national team. The reception was attended by Minister for Inter-Provisional Coordination Riaz Pirzada, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shahryar Khan, PCB officials and other dignities.
“Pakistan Navy is especially proud of ex PN serviceman Fakhar Zaman, who remained part of Pakistan Navy cricket team for seven years and has become a symbol of Pakistan as well as of Pakistan Navy, for his impressive performance throughout the tournament,” said the Chief Admiral according to brecoder.
Zakaullah further had a few appreciative words for Pakistan Sarfraz Ahmed, “He played an instrumental role by uniting as well as leading an entire team and playing as one unit thereby achieving this glorious feat,” further augmented the Navy Admiral. Sarfraz Ahmed was also recently appointed as the Test captain of Pakistan, as Misbah ul Haq recently retired from cricket. Pakistan next plays Sri Lanka at their adopted home ground in UAE, in October next.
