Fakhar Zaman reveals his plan after surviving the no ball scare in the Champions Trophy final
However, he got a life early into his inning when he fell victim to a Jasprit Bumrah delivery.
Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman played a crucial role in the country’s historic win over India in the Champions Trophy final. The batsman who has a note-worthy high back-lift made the day memorable with a swashbuckling century. His score of 114 runs of 106 balls rode Pakistan to a colossal total of 338 runs.
Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali played their part and supported the batsman who hails from the same place as that of legendary Pakistani batsman Younis Khan. Zaman took on two of the best Indian spinners in the name of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin and smashed them all over the park.
However, he got a life early into his inning when he fell victim to a Jasprit Bumrah delivery. Zaman edged one back to Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the score of 8, but luckily it was declared as a overstep no-ball.
The main story:
When asked about the same and when did he decide to capitalise on the opportunity Fakhar Zaman said that he decided to attack the spinners. He also pointed out that due to his illness last night the Indians could have given him a very difficult time had they planned their strategy normally. Zaman was struggling with his reflexes as a result of his weakness.
“I was very ill the night before the final. The team doctor was with me in my room for the duration of the night. If the Indian team had a normal plan against me — keep bowling on a good length and have two slips with the new ball, they could have got me out cheaply as my reflexes were slower because of my illness and the treatment. But they had different plans that restricted me and didn’t really allow me to play any of my shots. There was a deep square leg and short mid-wicket when the new ball was in operation. They blocked me completely. So, I held back and decided to wait for the spinners. It turned out to be my day as I was dismissed, but it happened to be a no ball. Then I hit the Indian spinners around at will.” Said Fakhar Zaman.
