Here is why this famous Pakistani fan loves MS Dhoni more than his wife
This gesture from Dhoni will really earn more respect from his fans.
Die-hard cricket fans are always integral to their favourite teams and more so to their most loved cricketers when they go out on the field to play the match. Sudhir Gautam, one of the ardent Sachin Tendulkar fans still attends India’s every match in the Stadium all over the World by painting his whole body with the Indian tri-colour. Similarly, there is a Pakistani fan who lives in Chicago and supports the Men in Blue. Moreover, he loves MS Dhoni even more than his wife.
Mohammad Bashir is the name of this fan who was recently present for the practice game of Bangladesh against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI ahead of their opening game against India in the Nidahas Trophy. He was one of the spectators to have witnessed the historic semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 between India and Pakistan. The high-voltage encounter was won by the Men in Blue and eventually went on to win the marquee event after a long gap of 28 years.
What is the reason?
Well, now Mohammad Bashir himself has revealed the reason of him being the die-hard MS Dhoni and Indian fan. “When I arrived for the semi-final in Mohali, I was told that there were no tickets available. I took out a placard and wrote, “I want to see the match”. On the second day, a man came with an envelope which contained tickets. He said, ‘This has come from Dhoni sahib’. I did not know MS Dhoni at that time. When I saw the tickets, I was overjoyed. Trust me, I love MS Dhoni more than my wife,” he told Hindustan Times.
This was such a wonderful gesture from the then skipper of India, that Bashir became his fan forever. He also gave a superb message to the people back in Pakistan saying that India is not the enemy and their people are very much loving. “Many people asked me, ‘Why do you support India?’ I only reply by saying you will get so much love in India. All the old people have filled the minds of the youth with poison that India is our enemy. It is nothing like that,” Bashir added.
