Pakistan had a bad World Cup stint in England and Wales and there were strong speculations after the team returned back to the nation that PCB might opt for a new skipper, but that didn’t happen. Pakistan board appointed a new coach and team management but still had faith over Sarfaraz Ahmed to lead their team in every format.
After the 32-year-old led his team to a 2-0 ODI series win against Sri Lanka everyone thought that the decision made by the board was right but just after the ODI series their side faced a T20I series defeat against the island nation that has made the fans of the country go crazy and their skipper has been brought back under the scanner for his poor performances.
Sri Lanka who had visited the green flag nation after a decade scripted a historic series win against the hosts with a clean sweep. The hosts are currently the number one team in ICC’s T20I rankings, but their awful performance against a second-tier side of Sri Lanka has been tough to digest for the former crickets as well as their fans.
Fans have gone crazy over Sarfaraz Ahmed performance in T20I series
Sarfaraz looked pretty ordinary throughout the ODI and T20I series against the visitors. He only managed to get 67 runs with his willow in the T20I series. In the final showdown, the hosts were in a pretty comfortable position to win the match and they only needed 71 runs in as many as 48 deliveries when their skipper came out to bat, but his run-a-ball batting left his team on the loosing side.
In 3rd T20I, Oshanda Fernando played a brilliant knock of 78 runs and ended up being the top scorer for Lanka whereas leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of all the bowlers. The young tweaker took three wickets in his four-over spell and was given the Man of the Match award.
After looking at the humiliating defeat of Sarfaraz and Co. and getting clean swept against a weak looking Sri Lanka, the fans trolled their skipper with some bashing posts after his successive failure as a captain and batsman.
Here are the reactions of fans:
He doesn't deserve to be in the team and he is our captain who else wants Sarfaraz Ahmed to quit cricket now #PAKvSL #PakVsSri pic.twitter.com/TdX8yTFmXo

Big question mark over Sarfaraz’s place in this XI. He does really need to perform, especially if he bats at 4. And batting lower would be an abdication of responsibility #PAKvSL
