Amidst all the hype around the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Australia thrashed India by 146 runs just before the event. All was certainly not well between the captains of the two teams Virat Kohli and Tim Paine. Both were engaged in a verbal duel during the third and fourth day’s play which spurred up the crowd and former cricketers as well.
They almost collided as well when Paine was stealing a single and Kohli ran into him eventually just to evade a clash. While a lot was said in the media about the banter, with one of the newspapers headlining ‘Kohli War’, Paine eventually had the final say with his team winning the Perth Test and not surprisingly was delighted. This was his first win as the Australian captain.
Kohli gives a nothing reaction
After the last wicket fell, the Australians celebrated their first Test victory since Newlands saga in March and then came the visitors for the customary handshakes. All the eyes were on Tim Paine and Virat Kohli who finally came in front of each other for the handshake. While Paine was happy and he patted on his counterpart’s back as well, Kohli just shook hands and left without saying anything to him.
The video of the same also went viral soon while the fans from both the countries had a go each other on social media over the same. It was claimed by the Aussie media that Kohli said, “I am the best player in the world. You are just the stand-in captain,” to Paine which has left many fuming. But the BCCI clarified the matter stating that nothing such statement was passed by the Indian skipper and everything is being ‘assumed.’
These incidents normally inspire Virat Kohli to play well in the following matches and it will be interesting to see how he responds to all the criticism with the bat.

We see what we want to see. Australia will see this as frosty. India will see this as a man who is ultra competitive & hates to lose, just lost a match & is extremely disappointed. He should hands, but surely, you can't expect him to smile at the same time he lost? #AUSvIND

It looks like someone's really angry….#AUSvIND

Didn’t look frosty at all. I wish the low rent Australia media would stop making things up to start trouble. #ausvind

The standing Captain won 💞 the hearts… Not only the game… He could win the series too with good onfield attitude…

When the match is done .. u should appreciate ur opposition captain for his efforts either win or lose , it may be secondary..I can’t see that in virat’s face ..that attitude is not appreciated ..

#aussiemedia Why y’all making it look like they should sing & dance. Good on Virat. The Aussies have been doing it from years, and the Indians been taking it. Virat is finally giving them a taste of their own medicine. God I love his arrogance. Welcome to the non-submissive India

Kolhi mood looks not good n I think 2 century coming in Melbourne

Utter arrogance of captain Kohli n nothing else… His arrogance of being best batsman in the world is not helping him become a good leader. As well as failing to inspire similar performances from his fellow batsman like Rahul, vijay n co.
