Fans gather around Sachin Tendulkar's home after he faced heat on his statements on Farmers' Protest
Recently, Sachin Tendulkar had faced a lot of heat from the fans on Twitter regarding his post on Farmers' protest
Sachin Tendulkar is one person in India, who never falls away from the limelight. Even after seven years of his retirement from cricket, people love him and don’t stop expressing their affection for the former cricketer. However, recently, the country wasn’t too happy with what the ex-player had said on Twitter regarding the farmers’ protest.
Sachin had tweeted from his official Twitter account urging his countrymen to stay together in these situations of turmoil. He had also suggested that the issue was an internal matter and the outsiders can only be spectators but not participants. This tweet had come after international attention to the farmer’s protest, forcing the government to make an official statement.
Several cricket fans along with prominent journalists had called out the cricketer for his actions. They accused him of supporting the government and not taking a stand of the miseries caused to the farmers during the protests. However, some fans also agreed with what the cricketer had said.
Fans shout “Sachin Sachin” outside the residence of the ex-cricketer
After facing some serious heat from social media, the former Indian batsman received support in a way in which no one would have expected. On Wednesday, Times Now reported that several fans rallied around Sachin’s house to express their support for the cricketer and the group felt that their star was getting undue criticism for his comments regarding the issue.
Several videos were uploaded on Twitter where fans were seen and heard with the famous ‘Sachin, Sachin, Sachin’ chants. The chants were like a callback to the time the master used to play for India. The similar chants were heard quite loudly just outside Tendulkar’s residence in Mumbai.
Several cricketers echoed Sachin Tendulkar’s sentiments
After Sachin’s tweet had come, several other former and current cricketers had expressed their opinions on the matter. The Indian captain Virat Kohli along with his deputies, Ajinkya Rahane (Test vice-captain) and Rohit Sharma (ODI and T20I vice-captain) had also uploaded tweets which had the same underlying message as that of Sachin Tendulkar
On the same subject, senior politician and NCP leader Sharad Pawar, who had also held the BCCI President’s position once advised that Sachin should not comment on issues which are not related to cricket. “Many people have reacted sharply to the stand taken by them (Indian celebrities). I would advise Sachin (Tendulkar) to exercise caution while speaking about any other field,” Pawar had said.
