AB de Villiers retiring from international cricket is one of the most happening incidents to take place so far in 2018. His announcement shocked the fans across the world as nobody saw it coming. But soon everyone showered him with best wishes and congratulated for the illustrious career at the highest level for close to 15 years. However, his actions have now come under the scanner for using an Indian flag while promoting a wine brand.
One of the best batsmen of the modern generation, De Villiers is currently enjoying his life away from the game and has already decided that he will play for his domestic team Titans and also guide the youngsters in the team. Moreover, he will also feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a few more years.
De Villiers’ Instagram post
AB de Villers had said that his body is tired after playing cricket continuously and rightfully deserved a breathing space from the game he loves the most. Recently, he promoted the Infinity wines brand which is now also available in India. He posted an update about the same on his official Instagram handle. But what irked the fans was the use of the Indian flag.
“Exciting times! A taste of our very own wines in Incredible India. If u get your hands on a bottle please let us know what u think @firstxiwines,” he captioned the post with this message.
He has immense fan-following in India and expectedly they weren’t pleased with him. They lashed out at the former South African cricketer for disrespecting the Indian flag. While few termed him as the role model of the young generation and he shouldn’t spoil his image by promoting wine brands, some thrashed him saying that they didn’t expect this from him.
