India and South Africa played against each other in what turned out to be a virtual quarter-final clash on Sunday at The Oval in London. In the end, defending champions India won the game by 8 wickets with 72 balls to spare as South Africa succumbed for the umpteenth time in a high-voltage game.
The Proteas were well placed in the 29th over at 140 for 2. What followed next is exactly the reason why they got the tag of ‘chokers’. Faf du Plessis hit one straight to point and De Villiers, who was at the other end, went for the run but fell short by a fair distance to be run out. In the very next over, du Plessis was again involved in a run-out. He called David Miller for a run and then stopped and took a U-turn which got both batsmen at the same end. Eventually, Miller had to make the long walk back as du Plessis had got back in the crease.
Being a part of two run outs in 5 balls got to du Plessis. Four overs later, he chopped one back straight onto his stumps off Pandya to be bowled for 36. The game had tilted on its head within five overs thanks to some ordinary communication between batsmen.
Post du Plessis’ dismissal, the Twitter handle of ICC tweeted a meme for the No. 3 batsman’s performance on the pitch.

This tweet did not go down well with the fans as they thought that the ICC shouldn’t be biased towards one of the teams.
Wow, bias much?

One fan termed this an ‘unprofessional’.

But ICC has been using this meme for the entire length of the tournament, which was also pointed by one follower.
They've been doing this meme thing for all the teams recently. Go through their feed.

Following their clinical win against South Africa, India has reached the semifinals of the tournament and a step closer to defending their title which they won four years ago in 2013.
