Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen was one of the very few overseas cricketers who is admired by most of the fans in India. He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest English batsmen of his generation, if not all time. He essayed 8,181 runs on the back of 23 hundreds and 35 fifties across 104 Test matches. He has scored 4440 runs in ODIs with the help of nine centuries and 25 fifties in 125 innings.
As far as the shortest format is concerned, he has scored 1176 in 36 games. He was named the Man of the Tournament when England lifted the T20 World Cup in the year 2010 which was team’s first ICC trophy. Kevin Pietersen was a substantial part of the team that won the Ashes at home in the year 2005. In his stellar career, he has won four Ashes with England. Kevin Pietersen is the second-highest run-scorer for England of all time across formats.
He is known for his trademark shot ‘Palti hit’ also known as ‘switch-hit’. Kevin Pietersen used to play this modern cricket shot that drew plaudits for his style of batting. This particular shot involves effectively switching from a right-hander to a left-hander just before the ball is released by the bowler only for the purpose of executing the shot.
