Fans urge India to boycott the match against Pakistan in World Cup 2019
The recent Pulwama attack has left the nation fuming.
India has not been playing bilateral series against Pakistan for a long time due to poor relations between the two countries. The relations have turned sour since the attack on the army convoy in Pulwama district in Kashmir. The terrorist organization, Jaish-e-Mohammed took the responsibility of the attack. This news has raised anger levels among the Indian public who wants their country to isolate their neighbours.
This attack was one of the deadliest in history as more than 40 Bravehearts of the nation lost their lives. On Saturday, the government of India decided to withdraw the status of Most Favoured Nation(MFN) from Pakistan. Even cricketers have come forward to urge the government to take revenge for this cowardly attack on the forces. Now some people including Cricket Club of India (CCI) secretary Suresh Bafna, want India to refuse playing against Pakistan in the World Cup.
Suresh Bafna pointed out that Imran Khan has maintained silence, which suggests that Pakistan is guilty. He further added that CCI has condemned the attack on the soldiers. He argued that even though CCI is a sports organization but for them, the nation and its interests will always come first. Bafna urged Imran Khan to comment on this matter as the public deserves to know the truth he is allegedly hiding.
CCI urged Imran Khan to come out
“We condemn the terror activities carried out against our army and CRPF personnel. Though CCI is a sporting association but nation comes first even before sports, he (Imran Khan) should respond. He is the Prime Minister and if he believes that Pakistan has no role to play in the attack then why is he not coming out openly.
He should come out openly. People should know the truth. He is not coming out openly which means that there are Stains in their folds,” Suresh Bafna was quoted as saying by Times Now.
A lot of Indians have echoed the words of CCI secretary on social media. Indians on various social media platforms have written to put pressure on BCCI and the team to snub the match against Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup. The two teams who met in the Champions Trophy final in England in 2017, are scheduled to meet in the same country on 16th June.
