Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly turned 45 on 8th July this year. On the occasion of his birthday, the warm wishes came in flooding for the former player. Needless to say, the fans wished him on the social media and hoped for his good health. While the usual wishes were expected to come in, there was a unique wish that some fans came up with on the occasion.

The members of the Sourav Ganguly Fan Club, back in Kolkata, demanded a metro station to be named after the former captain of the Indian cricket team. It comes as no surprise that Sourav has immense popularity in the Indian cricket circuit. He is one of the most celebrated cricketers and iconic figures in the Indian cricket. Currently, he is the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

Also, he is serving in the capacity of a member of the Chief Advisory Committee (CAC) appointed by the BCCI. Ganguly, along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, constitute the CAC. They have been handed over the responsibility of electing the new head coach of the Indian team.

Upcoming metro station at Behala

Ganguly was busy with the same official work on his birthday in Mumbai. However, his fans back home awaited his return as they stood outside his residence till he arrived. Behala, the area from where Sourav Ganguly belongs, is set to get a new metro station – Behala Chowrasta. As per the quotes in Zee News, the fans of Ganguly want the station to be named after him.

“We have been celebrating his birthday since he was made India captain. But this time we have a special wish. We want Behala Chowrasta metro to come up in his name. “As it’s a Railway project we will write to the ministry and approach (BJP MP) Babul Supriyo,” Ratan Haldar of Sourav Ganguly Fan Club quoted.
