Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked three wickets in 18 runs in four overs. Bangladesh had a slow start and lost wickets in quick succession. They could score 109 runs for the loss of seven wickets and lost the match by four runs.

The Netherlands also took on the Proteas in their previous outing. South Africa won the toss in this match and elected to bowl. The Netherlands posted a total of 103 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Sybrand Engelbrecht was the highest scorer and made 40 runs off 45 deliveries. South Africa reached the target of 104 runs in 18.5 overs with four wickets in hand. Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek picked two wickets apiece.

Bangladesh and the Netherlands have faced each other on four occasions in T20Is. The Netherlands have won one, while Bangladesh have been dominant with three wins to their name. In the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh have won both their encounter against the Netherlands.
