Birmingham Phoenix Women (BPH-W) will lock horns with Oval Invincibles Women (OVI-W) in the 19th match of the Hundred Women’s Competiton 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on August 13. Birmingham Phoenix have played four matches but are yet to win any. They are placed at the seventh position in the rankings. Oval Invincibles, on the other hand, have won just one of their four matches and are fifth in the rankings.
Birmingham Phoenix Women had squared off against Welsh Fire Women in their last encounter where the toss was won by the Phoenix and they elected to field. Being put to bat, Welsh Fire did a job and started off really well. However, due to the sloppy performances from their middle order, they lost wickets and did not score much, and ended up scoring 137 runs. Phoenix started brilliantly with their chase and were going ahead with the required run rate. The match although turned on its head in the last over where Phoenix lost back-to-back wickets and lost the match by three runs.
Oval Invincibles Women had played against Northern Superchargers Women in their last match where the toss was won by the Superchargers and they elected to bat. Losing their first wicket on duck, they did not start well but the middle order did not let the play be ruined for them as they scored at a rapid pace and took their team to a good total of 143. In reply, Invincibles started rather well although were a little slow. They did try to pick up pace towards the end but it proved to be a little too late as they fell short of the total by 14 runs and lost the match.
