Preview
Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be taking on each other in the 56th match of the IPL 2024. The game is of different consequences for DC and RR. The 2020 finalists must treat it as a must-win game, as the teams lower than them in the points table are catching up quickly and aiming to rise. Additionally, they need to win by a huge margin to improve their net run rate, which could help them have a better chance of making it to the playoffs.

RR has been arguably the best team in the season, with little to no major flaw in their lineup. They are nearly qualified for the playoffs. But the motive of the 2008 champions will be to try and win the match so that they can finish the group in the top two positions. It would allow them to play Qualifier 1, which is a slight advantage, as even after losing, they would get a second chance to enter the final. With the form they are in, RR seems to end the league stage in the top two positions.
The match is set to take place on May 7 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. DC might be familiar with the conditions, but they would be wary of the threat of RR. The table toppers have a great set of players who have come together to play as a unit. In the matches RR lost, they competed well and ended up accepting the defeats with smaller margins. Against GT, they lost in the last over while defending over 190. Against SRH, they lost by a solitary run.

Player Picks
Sanju Samson RR | WK
Sanju Samson has been one of the best batters this season. He has been able to play well against both spinners and pacers equally well. The star batter has been brilliant in the middle overs phase where it is generally not easy to score runs at a quick pace.
Jake Fraser-McGurk DC | BAT
Jake Fraser-McGurk did not bat well in the previous game against KKR. However, given the caliber of the youngster, one can expect him to deliver the goods in the upcoming game. When on song, it is nearly impossible to stop him. Jake is a brilliant fielder too.
Yashasvi Jaiswal RR | BAT
Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to form in the last few games. The Southpaw won the match for RR against MI with his hundred. In he last game against RR, he scored 67(40) and helped the 2008 champions to have the upper hand in the run chase.
Rishabh Pant DC | WK
Rishabh Pant did not bat well in the last game against KKR. In a season that was expected to pose him a challenge, Pant has managed to do well. As a batter, he has either batted very well or has struggled to get going. As a keeper, he has been doing well.
Kuldeep Yadav DC | BOWL
Kuldeep Yadav is one of the best wicket-taking bowlers in the league. The chinaman spinner brings variety with his release point and the nature of bowling. He can claim wickets in the middle overs and put pressure back on the opponents.
Jos Buttler RR | WK
Jos Buttler has the ability to win matches on his won. In the last game against SRH, the star batter was dismissed for a golden duck. However, given his record at Arun Jaitley Stadium, one can expect him to come good against DC. Jos is a brilliant fielder too.
Shai Hope DC | WK
Shai Hope did well against MI as he scored 41(17). A year ago, he was not considered a T20 batter. But the WKL batter has proven everyone wrong with his striking abilities. After not doing well in the last game against KKR, the WI batter would be hoping to do well against RR.
Rasikh Salam DC | BOWL
Rasikh Dar Salam has been one of the finds of this season. With the ball, he can break partnerships and be economical at the same time. The emerging talent can contribute with the bat as well, although he has yet to prove himself in this regard.
Lizaad Williams DC | BOWL
Lizaad Williams can take wickets and trouble the batters at the top with his accuracy. The pacer can be a good option for DC in the future. In the absence of some key players and the poor form of Anrich Nortje, DC needed him to do well as a bowler.
Avoid Having These Players In Your Fantasy Sports Team
David Warner
DC | BAT
David Warner sustained a finger injury and has not been in action in the last few matches. The trend is likely to continue against RR. Even if he makes it to the XI, the experienced batter might take some time to find form. He has not been at his best this season.
Shimron Hetmyer
RR | BAT
Shimron Hetmyer has been out of form this season. Barring the game against PBKS where he won the match for his side, the Southpaw has not been able to bat well in other matches. The finisher of the 2008 champions cannot be trusted given his form.
Ravichandran Ashwin
RR | ALL
Ravichandran Ashwin is someone who is miserly with the ball and can add some runs lower down the order. He does not get enough deliveries to face as a batter and does not pick as many wickets. Hence, in a fantasy team, his pick might not be impactful.
