England and Afghanistan will play the 14th game of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Saturday (October 22) at the Perth Stadium. They have played two T20I matches against each other which have come in the World Cup only and England have won both these matches. England defeated Pakistan comfortably in the warm-up game by six wickets. They defeated Australia and Pakistan in the last two bilateral series and have assembled a strong squad.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, will be playing their first T20I game since their Asia Cup stint and will be looking to deliver some extraordinary performance in this tournament. They defeated Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the group stage of the Asia Cup and managed to win the warm-up game against Bangladesh as well. The likes of Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz played in the Caribbean Premier League last month and will be the key players for the team both in this game as well as the tournament going forward.

Pitch Report

Perth Stadium, the venue for this game has hosted only two T20Is so far and the recent one being the first T20I between England and Australia this month. England made 208 runs in that game and won the game by just eight runs. This indicates that the pitch might have a lot to provide to the batters. Most of the wickets that fell in that game were picked by the pacers and they might get some help in phases from the surface.

Harry Brook

ENG | BAT
